READY?

GREEN = PRESS · RED = HOLD

Use Space on a keyboard, or the response button on a touchscreen.

GREEN GOPRESS
RED NO-GODO NOTHING

Wait for each target. Pressing before a target appears counts as a false alarm.

HOW IT WORKS

Take the Go/No-Go reaction test

  1. 01

Start the test and wait through a random delay before every target.

  2. 02

Press Space, click, or tap as quickly as possible when the target is green.

  3. 03

Withhold your response when the target is red. The session ends after 20 trials.

ABOUT THE TEST

What is a Go/No-Go test?

A Go/No-Go test asks you to make one response to frequent GO signals and suppress that response for NO-GO signals. It combines reaction speed with response inhibition: the ability to stop an expected action.

This online version uses green and red targets across 20 trials. GO reaction times are averaged from correct hits. Accuracy includes hits and correctly withheld responses.

READ YOUR RESULTS

Speed is only half the challenge

Hit

You responded to a green GO target before it disappeared.

False alarm

You responded to a red target or pressed before a target appeared.

Correct inhibition

You successfully withheld your response to a red NO-GO target.

FOR RECREATION

A game score, not a diagnosis

This browser test is for recreation and personal comparison only. It is not a clinical, psychological, or medical assessment and cannot diagnose attention or impulse-control conditions.

QUESTIONS

Go/No-Go test FAQ

What does a Go/No-Go test measure?

It combines response speed with response inhibition. You must react to a GO signal while withholding the same action for a NO-GO signal. This recreational test reports both timing and response accuracy.

How is accuracy calculated?

Accuracy is the percentage of 20 trials completed correctly. A green hit and a correctly ignored red target are correct. A missed green target, response to red, or early response is incorrect.

What is response inhibition?

Response inhibition is the ability to stop or withhold an action that has become expected. In this game, frequent green signals build the urge to respond, while red signals ask you to hold back.

What is a good Go/No-Go score?

There is no universal good score for a short browser test. Device latency, practice, attention, and testing conditions all affect results. Compare repeated sessions on the same device instead of treating one score as a health measure.

Does the test work on mobile?

Yes. Tap the large response button for green targets and do not touch it for red targets. Compare mobile scores with other sessions on the same device because touch and keyboard latency differ.
